BORN TO BE WILD
September 13, 2015 lineup

Doc Nielsen visits a town in Surigao Del Sur where Philippine macaques regularly visit villagers’ homes. Most residents do not welcome these monkeys because they steal food from their houses. Doc Nielsen and his team document the monkeys as they raid the villagers’ homes for food. How can people and monkeys live in peace in an area that both species call home?

Guest host Mariz Umali travels to Taal, Batangas to investigate reports of a fish species that is invading the lake. Fishermen have nicknamed the fish “dugong”. They complain that native species are slowly disappearing, including the tawilis which Taal is known for. According to one theory, a pet owner may have released the “dugong” fish into the lake, causing its population to grow. Others suspect that the “dugong” fish may have accidentally been included in a batch of fingerlings released in Taal lake.
