NEWS on Q offers more news on primetime

Now 45 minutes, your primetime news source now offers more news, more information and more features for the discerning viewer. More than just recaps of the day's events, NEWS on Q offers top-notch reportage that also prepares viewers for the next day. Just recently, NEWS on Q's coverage of the bombing of the Batasan Pambansa in November 2007 was given a Finalist Certificate for Breaking News Coverage at the 2009 New York Festivals. In the said coverage, NEWS on Q processed raw information as it streamed in from various sources. While satisfying the viewers' need for news, NEWS on Q kept the distance to give the victims space. NEWS on Q sought the latest details and images of the blast as it also took pause to enlighten its viewers. The anchors ably asked the very questions viewers wanted to ask, summarizing the salient points to help viewers along. In the end, it mattered not only to be the first on the scene and to get first-hand information, but also to put viewers first. From its launch in November 2005 as a Filipino language news program to its subsequent shift to the English language in 2007, NEWS on Q has evolved into a more proactive program. NEWS on Q also added the weekly segment "Analysis by Winnie Monsod" for viewers to understand current issues better and empower them to make informed opinions; "Techtrends" to update viewers on technological breakthroughs; and "On the Web" to keep viewers in the loop with the freshest news on GMANEWS.TV and PEP. NEWS on Q is anchored by Rhea Santos and Ivan Mayrina, two of today's young broadcast journalists and the industry's next-in-line icons. A multi-awarded host, Rhea also handles NEWS on Q's "The Contenders" - a series of interviews with possible Presidential bets in the coming 2010 elections. She has interviewed Senators Loren Legarda, Panfilo Lacson, Mar Roxas, Richard Gordon, as well as, MMDA Chairman Bayani Fernando and Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay. For his part, Ivan is a seasoned journalist once assigned to the Justice Beat and now covers the Philippine House of Representatives. His skills and dedication were also brought to the fore when he covered the MILF renegade attacks in Lanao del Norte in August 2008. With NEWS on Q, get more news and information on primetime. No Spin. No Bias. Just news. NEWS on Q airs weeknights at 9:30, only on Q Channel 11. (30)
