Behind the scenes of 'Oras Na,' Richard Gutierrez' latest environmental docu

Watch the scenes behind the creation of GMA News and Public Affairs’ latest environmental documentary, Oras Na: From braving jungle rapids to fishing for hours at sea, actor host Richard Gutierrez witnessed first hand many of the nature's problems while shooting the GMA News and Public Affairs environmental documentary, “Oras Na," which airs this Sunday, November 20 on GMA-7. Hosting his fourth environmental documentary for GMA News and Public Affairs, Gutierrez said that he “felt privileged to be able to experience" nature’s wonders, including 100-year-old trees in the Visayas that are quickly disappearing. Forests worldwide are expected to disappear by 2025, some scientific experts say. Seafood stocks may be history by 2050, but a fishing trip made Gutierrez realize that the grim reality is already being felt in the Philippines. Gutierrez spent a whole day at sea near Antique with a fisherman named Kuya Bonifacio, who told the young actor that fish are getting more difficult to catch. After three hours at sea, Gutierrez and Kuya Bonifacio caught only three pieces of fish. Gutierrez worked with the same team of producers also responsible for his previous environmental documentaries, including “Planet Philippines" and “Wildlife for Sale." He described the team as “meticulous, dedicated, and hardworking." Pre-production started in July, and the whole team were still shooting until October. “Grabe ‘yung oras na binigay ng staff and crew," said Gutierrez. The documentary airs this Sunday at 9:45 P.M. on GMA7.
