While many are fleeing Marawi because of the ongoing conflict there between government troop and the Mautes, a select few are willing to be deployed right in the heart of the action to fulfill their sworn duty: to offer their life in the service of their people and their country. They are the heroes of Marawi.
Technical Sergeant Aldrin Dinglasan is one of the more than eighty soldiers and policemen killed in the line of duty at the height of the Marawi Siege. His wife Leah tells the story of his last hours in the campaign to retake the city.
Susan Enriquez meanwhile visited the AFP Medical Center where soldiers are recuperating from the wounds they sustained in battle. Are they getting the benefits they need and are their families being looked after until they are well enough to return to service?
And meet the Moms of Manila - they may be far from the Marawi battle scene to assess what sort of help is actually needed but because they are moms - they know their Maranaw counterparts need clothes and cooking utensils and other basic neccesities to keep body and soul together so they send out appeals for donations of the same from other mothers here while their children write letters and pray that peace will finally come to the city.
This Wednesday, we pay tribute to the soldiers in Marawi as we showcase their heroic stories on I Juander, 8 o’clock in the evening on GMA News TV! - KVD
