"Salamat, Teddy"

Episode on November 10, 2008 Monday late night after Saksi It was August 1988 when the music industry was devastated by the sudden death of The Dawn's lead guitarist and founding member Teddy Diaz. The Dawn is the iconic Pinoy rock band of the eighties. They brought fresh style and original Filipino music to the youth after years of suppression. Songs like "Enveloped Ideas", "I Stand With You," "Love Will Set Us Free," and "Salamat" became anthems of their generation. The Dawn paved the way for such bands as the Eraserheads, Rivermaya and many others. After two decades, the memory of Teddy Diaz' death is still fresh for documentarist Jay Taruc. Jay was only fifteen years old when he heard the news his idol had been stabbed to death. Many versions surrounded the story of Teddy's death and till today, it is still shrouded in mystery. As a teenager, Jay felt robbed of the glory that was Teddy Diaz. And for a while, the music just stopped for him. Later, as a tribute to The Dawn, Jay formed his own high school band. Jay now hopes to retrace the steps taken by the late Teddy Diaz. Through the eyes of the remaining Dawn members Jett Pangan, Jun Boy Leonor, Francis Reyes, and Buddy Zabala, and of the Diaz family, Jay hopes to get to know the real Teddy. 2008 marks his 20th death anniversary. Agosto ng taong 1988, ginulantang ang buong industriya ng musika sa brutal na pagkakapaslang kay Teddy Diaz. Si Teddy ang lider, gitarista at bumuo ng bandang The Dawn. Nakilala ang banda sa mga kantang "Enveloped Ideas," "Love Will Set Us Free," at "Salamat." Sa katunayan, ang The Dawn ang kinikilalang iconic band ng 80's. Bilang pagbibigay pugay, nagbuo ng sariling banda si Jay na naging malaking bahagi ng kanyang kabataan. Sa pamamagitan ng dokumentaryong ito, babalikan ni Jay ang buhay ni Teddy Diaz. Mula sa mismong mga miyembro ng The Dawn na sina Jett Pangan, Jun Boy Leonor, Francis Reyes, at Buddy Zabala, makikilala niya kung sino si Teddy bilang musikero at kaibigan.
