Jay Taruc finds stories of survival in post-Sendong Cagayan de Oro

Episode airing January 16, 2012 11:30 PM on GMA In 2011, I-Witness documented two stories of perseverance in Cagayan de Oro City.   The poignant tale of Tatay Odon and his son Junior, and the dramatic journey of a student named Roy, who crossed a makeshift wooden cable car to school each day, touched the hearts of viewers.   After these two stories aired, tragedy struck Cagayan de Oro City. Typhoon Sendong brought havoc to the lives of the residents. Hundreds were killed and thousands left homeless.
Fourteen-year-old Roy uses a makeshift cable car to cross a river on his way to school everyday.
Jay Taruc and his team go back to Cagayan de Oro City to search for Tatay Odon and Junior, and to see what has happened to Roy and his rickety muton. What he discovers is an inspiring tale of survival even in the darkest of storms.   “Ahon” airs this Monday on I-WITNESS.
