On its first episode this Thursday, KANDIDATO 2013: SENADOR looks into the qualifications of three aspiring senators. Aurora Representative Sonny Angara, former senator Jamby Madrigal and Zambales Representative Mitos Magsaysay take turns in answering the questions of Arnold Clavio and Malou Mangahas on GMA News and Public Affairs’ special election series.

Because of his television appearances the past months, Angara is now faced with various criticisms. What role does his wife, a high-ranking television executive, play in his campaign? Angara answers questions on his alleged premature campaigning. Clavio and Mangahas also grill Angara about his SALN which revealed his net worth of almost 100 million pesos.

Also placed under scrutiny is former senator Jamby Madrigal who last ran for the presidency. Madrigal was the fiercest critic of another presidential aspirant in 2010, Sen. Manny Villar whose wife is now running under the same ticket. How do the two ladies relate to each other during the campaign? Madrigal reveals her thoughts on other controversies, including those that question her gender.

Meanwhile Rep. Mitos Magsaysay, often referred to as a Dragon Lady, sheds light on her image as defender of former president Gloria Arroyo. How did their alleged closeness come about? During her term, Magsaysay also became known as Congresswoman Libre. How did she really spend her PDAF as congresswoman of Zambales?

Join multi-awarded broadcast journalist Arnold Clavio and PCIJ Executive Director Malou Mangahas as they screen this week’s applicants for a seat in the Senate.
