Episode on March 1, 2008 Saturday, 8:30 p.m. Special JS Prom The students of Alabang Elementary School are looking forward to a special prom this year. This is because the participants of this year’s special event are students diagnosed with autism and mental retardation. Their disabilities are no hindrance for this memorable occasion. In fact, all of them are excited and are vying for the prom “King" and “Queen" titles. The goal of this project is to eliminate discrimination against people with disabilities. Despite their medical conditions, these students should not be deprived of a chance to experience this remarkable event in their teenage life. Watch out for this “special" JS prom organized for the “special" students of Alabang Elementary School. Who's famous? Before the age of television contests and reality shows, talents were often discovered through TV commercials. However, trends nowadays show that some who are discovered through advertisements are not good-looking models but those who have made a mark in our minds. An example would be Lolo Rudy, who is now famous for walking backwards to prove how a food supplement brand helped him regain his strength. There’s also Raul, the Rene Requiestas look-alike who was discovered because of his appearance in a shampoo commercial. It would also be interesting to meet the people behind the most successful television programs today. Robert Brillantes and Hazel Lozano may not have billboards in EDSA, but their voices are definitely famous among households. They are the dubbers of the lead characters in “Coffee Prince". Although their voices are paired together, they haven’t seen each other. That’s why in one very special occasion, we arranged for them to meet up. And who isn’t familiar with the high-pitched voice of Shalala, who happens to be Kuya Germs’ tandem in his radio and television programs. All of them are now making their respective marks in the television industry. And although there are people who get famous in an instant, there are also some who struggled and worked hard for their success. Sounds from the provinces Music is considered as a universal language and the popularity of Bisrock or songs written in Visayan proves this statement. An example would be the song “Charing" – a song written in Visayan, but is memorized and sung even by those in Manila. Music also paved the way for the revival of folk songs in Pampanga. In fact, a new and modern version of “Atin Ku Pung Singsing" can be heard from the album called “RocKapampangan". The ancient epic songs of the T’boli tribe in South Cotabato are also making waves abroad. Sadly, their album, highly valued in other countries, is not well-appreciated here in the Philippines. Join us as we listen to the different songs of our country, because when it comes to music, what’s more important is not the language or dialect used, but the story and culture ingrained in the songs. Porcupine Porcupines are known for the sharp and pointed spines covering their body. This animal, known locally as “dorian", can be found in the island of Palawan. Porcupines are usually hunted and eaten. According to locals, porcupines taste good and can even serve as aphrodisiac. But some hunt porcupines to keep them as pets. However, Philippine legislation rules against the hunting, eating, and keeping of porcupines as pets because porcupines are already classified as endangered species.
Sinong sikat? Karaniwan itong hinuhuli at ginagawang pagkain.
