Katipunan Episode V: Simula ng Labanan

Sa pagkakabulgar ng Katipunan, nagsimula na ang rebolusyon. Dadamputin ng mga guardia sibil ang daan-daang katao na hinihinalang kasapi ng grupo. Pahihirapan ang mga ito at marami ang mamamatay.
Ipatatawag ni Andres Bonifacio ang mga anak ng bayan. Sa bahay ni Tandang Sora, hihintayin niya ang tugon ng mga Katipon. Maghahanda ng pagkain para sa isanlibong katao ang matanda. Ilan kaya ang tutugon sa panawagan ng Supremo para sa pag-aalsa? Ilan ang handang punitin ang kanilang cedula bilang hudyat ng paghiwalay sa hari ng Espanya?
Sa Maynila, iiwan ni Oriang ang kanyang mga magulang upang hindi madamay ang mga ito sakaling matukoy na isa siya sa mga pinuno ng Katipunan. Kasama ang isang kapatid na lalaki, tatakas siya upang hanapin si Andres.
Maghihigpit ang mga Espanyol. Magpapatupad sila ng Juez de Cuchillo o ang paglipol sa lahat ng tao sa mga lugar na pinaghihinalaang kuta ng mga Katipunero. Bata, matanda, babae, lalaki, Katipunero man o hindi, ang utos ay ubusin ang mga tao sa mga komunidad na maaring kuta ng mga ito.
Sa Cavite naman, magsisimula ang iringan ng grupong Magdalo nina Mariano at Santiago Alvarez at Magdiwang ni Emilio Aguinaldo. Ito’y dahil sa pag-aatubili ni Aguinaldo na simulan ang labanan sa probinsiya.
Abangan ang mga makapigil-hiningang eksena sa Katipunan tuwing Sabado, 10:15 ng gabi sa GMA 7.

KATIPUNAN EPISODE V: A CALL TO ARMS
With the Katipunan no longer a secret, the crackdown on the revolutionary group begins.
Spanish officials declare Juez de Cuchillo in suspected Katipunan strongholds. This means the massacre of even the innocents, including children. Hundreds of men are arrested, tortured, and killed.
Supremo Andres Bonifacio and a handful of Katipuneros regroup in the home of Tandang Sora, an octogenarian who supports the movement. The Supremo sends out a call to arms to Katipuneros in nearby areas. Faced with a battle against a bigger army with far better arms, how many will show up? Tandang Sora’s response is to prepare a meal for a thousand men. How many will agree to tear up their cedula and live on the run?
Meantime, Oriang leaves her parents’ home to spare them from harm. With her brother, she heads to the mountains to try to find her husband.
In Cavite, a crack begins to form in the the Katipunan’s ranks even before they go to war. The Magdalos and Magdiwangs disagree on strategy: Emilio Aguinaldo tries to delay the inevitable, while Mariano and Santiago Alvarez launch an attack in his absence.
Katipunan’s cast is led by Sid Lucero as Andres Bonifacio, Glaiza de Castro as Oriang, and Nico Antonio as Emilio Aguinaldo.Benjamin Alves and Dominic Roco play the fictional characters Sebastian and Pacquing. Roi Vinzon plays the role of the ruthless Padre Villalon.
Katipunan is GMA News and Public Affairs’ first historical docudrama. It is being filmed using Sony Cinemaalta F3 cameras provided by Solid Video. CMB Film Services Inc. provided lenses and other high-end equipment. Post production was done at Quantum Films.
