Kapag nababanggit ang General Santos City, agad na papasok sa isipan ang mga naglalakihan nilang isda, ang tuna! Ngayong Huwebes, samahan si Kara David tikman ang mga natatanging putahe sa Gensan na pinasarap ng tuna.
Tinaguriang Tuna Capital of the Philippines ang GenSan dahil sa dami ng mga tunang ibinabagsak sa lungsod. Sa katunayan, ipinagdiriwang sa GenSan taon-taon tuwing September ang Tuna Festival bilang pasasalamat sa isdang nagbigay sa kanila ng kabuhayan at pagkakakilanlan. Isa sa highlight ng fiesta ngayong taon, ang tuna cooking competition!
Sa dami ng tuna sa Gensan, hindi na rin nakapagtatakang ang mga ipinagmamalaki nilang putahe, tuna ang pangunahing sangkap. Usok pa lang, matatakam ka na! Ito raw ang iyong mararamdaman kapag naamoy ang iniihaw na tuna belly at tuna panga. Pero sa isang restaurant sa lungsod, buong tuna ang iniihaw, ang lechon tuna!
Wala raw tapon sa tuna dahil kahit ang mga laman loob at sex organs, pwedeng lutuin at pasarapin! Ilan sa mga dish na ito ang black meat tuna tapa, sizzling laman loob ng tuna sisig, buntot ng tuna curry, at ginataang tuna eye to tail! Pati ang balat ng tuna, imbes na itapon, iniluto nila at pinalutong, ang tuna chicharon!

It is known as the Tuna Capital of the Philippines because of the huge amount of tuna fishes that are caught and brought to their port. GenSan celebrates their annual Tuna Festival this September as their way of giving thanks for blessing them with job opportunities and identity through the abundance of tuna. One of the highlights this year is the tuna cooking competition.
In the abundance of Tuna in GenSan, it is no wonder that tuna is their main ingredient. The smoke alone is already appetizing, what more if you taste their grilled tuna belly and jaw tuna. But in a restaurant in the city, they grill the entire tuna or lechon tuna!
Every part of tuna can be eaten, even the innards and sex organs are cooked. Some of the dishes are black meat tuna tapa, sizzling innards in tuna sisig, tuna tail curry, and tuna eye to tail in coconut milk! Even the skin of tuna is not thrown, they cook and make it crispy to be tuna chicharon!
