Recipe: Fruit and vegetable snacks for kids

Saturday mornings on GMA-7, regularly features nutritious and easy-to-prepare recipes for moms and dads on the go.
Here are some alternative snack recipes that your kids will surely enjoy:
Mango glazed doughnut

For the dough:
1/2 kilo flour
2 pcs. egg
1 cup milk
For the glaze:
1 pc. mango
1/2 cup sugar
Directions:
In a bowl, combine the flour and egg. Add milk and mix well. Knead the mixture with your hands for a few minutes until it becomes smooth.
Roll the dough until your desired thickness and form into a doughnut shape. Fry until golden brown. Use paper towels to absorb excess oil from the doughnuts.
In a separate pan, combine sugar and chopped mangoes. Stir until the mixture caramelizes. Then pour on top of the doughnuts.
Cost: P70 for 4 servings
Breaded isaw with malunggay
For the breaded isaw:
1/2 kilo isaw
1 pc. egg
1 cup flour
Malunggay leaves
Pepper
For the sauce:
2 tbsp. vinegar
2 tbsp. soy sauce
1/2 cup onions
1 pc. tomato
2 tbsp. garlic
1 pc. kalamansi
Directions:
Boil the isaw for three minutes.
In a separate pan, boil the malunggay leaves for a few seconds. Drain, and then chop the leaves into small pieces.
Mix the chopped malunggay leaves with flour, egg and pepper. Dip the isaw in this mixture for a few minutes, then fry. Use paper towels to drain excess oil.
For the sauce, combine all the ingredients in a bowl.
Cost: P50 for 4 servings
Instant pancit canton with veggies
Ingredients:
1 tbsp garlic
1 cup onions, chopped
1 cup beans
1 cup carrots, chopped
1 cup mushroom
1/4 cabbage
Cooking oil
Tofu
Noodles
Directions:
Boil the noodles according to the instructions indicated on the pack.
In a separate pan, sauté garlic, onion, beans, carrots and cabbage. Add the boiled noodles. Wait for a few minutes and then add the tofu and mushrooms.
Cost: P100 for 4 servings
