Operation 7 – or Op-Seven – is a dream come true. Or at least to casual and hardcore first person shoot ‘em up (FPS) gamers. Touted as “revolutionary," the MMOFPS (massively multiplayer online first person shooter) provides groundbreaking features, including gun customization. “Really for the first time, we are looking at, 'How big is your gun, and how well you customize [it]. In a sense, it is the artistry of how you customize your weaponry," said George Royeca, vice-president of X-Play last September 9, the game’s open beta testing. Royeca is not exaggerating. Most MMOs in the market currently focus on gears and enhancements. But that’s not the case in OP-7. Although it has weapons FPS gamers are already familiar with – the M4 Commando and the AK-47, among others – the game features World War II vintage guns. For instance, the SCA M11 Thompson is available for the players to tweak. Players are also allowed to fiddle with more than 1000 gun customization options, from an array of dot sights, scopes, silencers, gun body appearances, grips as well as bullet types and recoil control. However, X-Play doesn't only stop there. Customization of your avatar's appearance has also been made available to suit either the game type or the gamer. This feature obviously would appeal to casual gamers who are likewise concerned about pimping their appearances, as well. From the standard soldier uniforms, the gear just gets more eclectic –with gangster suits, prison uniforms and ghetto get-ups that would definitely entice gamers who would like to look good while trying to up their kill count or even go down in-style while getting fragged. Likewise, the different maps and environments available in the game represent real-world locations such as New York City's Ground Zero, and Tokyo's Shibuya Prefecture, adds to the genuine and unique real-world FPS gameplay that the players would get to encounter in-game. Game modes comprise of the standard FPS fare and some mods such as Hold the Line, Survival and Headhunter, which further enhances the gameplay options a couple of notches. For those concerned about hacks and cheats common to other FPS’s, OP7 has implemented a system called 'Player Justice', where players can cast a vote to kick other players ruining the code of fair play which "to-the-core" gamers strongly adhere to. Operation 7 is definitely a must-play for those looking for a whole new MMOFPS experience definitely worth your while.
