Paris Hilton, other celebrities tweet Pacquiao's victory

Buxom socialite and hotel heiress Paris Hilton had fun in Las Vegas last Saturday watching two brown-skinned men with washboard abs slug it out in the ring. The 30-year-old great-granddaughter of Conrad Hilton (of Hilton Hotels), who went with her sister Nicky to the Manny Pacquiao-Shane Mosley fight, kept her Twitter page abuzz with live updates as she watched the fight ringside. "Pacquiao is the Champion! Pac Man is an incredible fighter!" she pronounced after the judges announced its unanimous decision in favor of Pacquiao. The buxom later posed for a photo with the dapper Pacquiao, towering over the 1.69-meter Filipino. Paris to Manila Hilton, possibly the most notorious of the Hollywood celebrities who came to watch Pacquiao's fight, also hinted about a coming trip to the Philippines, reportedly for a business venture she's looking to set up in the country. "Wow! Such an honor to be brought on stage by Manny & his wife Jinkee after the fight. Can't wait to visit them when I go to the Phillippines," she tweeted breathlessly. Hilton reportedly hung out with the couple after the fight.

Celebs fete Manny But it was not just Hilton who gushed online about the undisputed pound-for-pound king. In a tweet that surprised many Filipinos, Brazilian novelist Paulo Coelho, author of such bestselling novels as "The Alchemist" and "By The River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept" ,also celebrated Pacquiao's win. "Congratulations Filipinos! Pacquiao rules," he shouted out, making the phrase "Congratulations Filipinos" trend on Twitter last night. Coelho had likewise sent his adulation to Pacquiao when he downed Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto in 2009, saying: "To all Filipinos here, congratulations for Pacquiao (BTW I already have my tkts for Klitschko vs Johnson on Dec 11)." A gung-ho boxing fan, Coelho had also signified his desire to sit down with undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson "for lunch and dinner," and said in his blog that one of his still unfulfilled desires included learning to box. 'Mosley takbo' While both Hilton and Coelho seem to have enjoyed Paquiao's fight, other celebrities were left unimpressed. Sophia Bush, a young television actress who stars in the hit TV show "One Tree Hill," said the Pacquiao-Mosley match was a "letdown." Actress Mylene Dizon, meahwhile, nicknamed Mosley "Boy Tulak" (Pushy Boy) for knocking Pacquiao down with a push in the 10th round of the match, causing the latter to stalk his opponent with renewed aggression. Singer-comedian Ogie Alcasid, on the other hand, offered an astute (if not entirely witty) observation: "Si mosley ay mosly ilag at mosly takbo ang ginawa sa laban kontra kay Pacman!!" Celebrity matriarch Annabelle Rama, known for her spare-no-prisoners candor, only had this to say: "Dapat nag shopping nalang ako," as shared by his son Raymond Gutierrez, who watched the fight live in Las Vegas. TV personality Ramon Bautista, however, offered the quirkiest remark about the match: "ok congrats manny, wala kang katulad. di ka man lang jinabar." "Jabar" is a Filipino slang word for body sweat. Jinkee shines Other stars looked to the sidelines instead to find something worth tweeting about, with more than a few noticing Pacquiao's curvy wife, Jinkee. "Jinkee looked so pretty, sexy and classy in an azzedine alaia gold dress," said celebrity cosmetic doctor Vicki Belo in a tweet about her client. "Huwaaaw! trending topic si JINKEE dahil sa worth 7,000,000 niyang earrings! GOSH!" was all young star Kiray Celis could utter. So many took note of Jinkee that her name became one of the trending topics on Twitter Sunday, along with her husband and Mosley's knock-out girlfriend Bella Gonzalez. Mosley, notably, did not trend. Where's Mayweather? With another lopsided victory by Pacquiao, many boxing fans turned their thoughts to perhaps the only boxer who can present a legitimate challenge to the Filipino's dominance. So where was Floyd Mayweather, Jr. while all this was going on? A few hours before the fight, Mayweather tweeted: "Everyone watch Lady Gaga tonight on the best network in the world, HBO. 9/8c," in an obvious attempt to sway viewers from watching the fight on the rival pay-per-view channel, Showtime. Pacquiao's fights used to air on HBO's pay-per-view, but Bob Arum's Top Rank Promotions earlier this year signed an agreement with its rival network.
