Facebook gets 'Listen', 'Read' buttons in ticker
Some users of social networking site Facebook may now be seeing tweaks to its ticker, allowing one to play music or read an article embedded there. Facebook enthusiast site Inside Facebook said a newspaper or music note icon appears next to a ticker story, and "Read" or "Listen" appears when one mouses over it. "The buttons create a simpler way for users to quickly respond. That further generates activity in the Ticker, and could help these types of media gain new viral growth," it said. In contrast, the present interface only opens a window showing a set of information from the app that generated the activity story. A separate article on tech site The Next Web said clicking "Read" leads a user directly to the article "with just one touch." Similarly, the âListen" button will bring up the music app being used by the song. "The new buttons might even boost user activity for the various applications: More visibility to Facebookâs current 800 million-strong user base canât be a bad thing," it added. â TJD, GMA News
