Topacio's testicles twitted on Twitter

Pinoys on Twitter are poking fun at Atty. Ferdinand Topacio —legal counsel of former president Gloria Macagapal-Arroyo and her husband Mike Arroyo— who assured the public on Wednesday that he would cut his balls off if the Arroyo couple do not return from their pending trip abroad. In an interview on ANC, Topacio said, "I'm willing to do the worst. Ipatatanggal ko itlog ko 'pag di bumalik ang mga Arroyo. (I'll have my balls cut off if the Arroyos don't return.)" The local Twittersphere picked up on the lawyer's apparently poor choice of metaphor, quickly turning out one pun after another. Social media personality and singer Jim Paredes was one of the first to use the hashtag #itlognitopacio when he tweeted, "I have heard of ppl giving an arm and a leg for a loved one. But a testicular offer for insurance is quite unique #itlognitopacio." Paredes further expressed amusement over Topacio's choice of words, calling it "an unwise use of metaphor" that left the lawyer open to ridicule from people who are unfamiliar with the turn of phrase. The #itlognitopacio hashtag topped the list of trending topics on Twitter on Wednesday night.
