Magnitude 5.2 quake jolts Looc, Occidental Mindoro


A magnitude 5.2 earthquake hit southeast of Looc, Occidental Mindoro early Saturday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.

The agency earlier reported that a 5.5-magnitude quake occurred in Calintaan, Occidental Mindoro

The quake, which occurred at 12 midnight at a depth of 74 kilometers, was tectonic in origin.

The earthquake was also felt in the following areas:

  • Intensity V - Sablayan, and Rizal, Occidental Mindoro
  • Intensity IV - Puerto Galera, San Jose and Paluan, Occidental Mindoro; City of Calapan and San Teodoro, Oriental Mindoro
  • Intensity III - City of Manila; City of Las Piñas; City of Lipa; Batangas City; Abra De Ilog and Lubang, Occidental Mindoro; Alfonso, Cavite
  • Intensity II - Quezon City; City of Pasig; City of Marikina; City of Makati; City of Valenzuela; Bacoor, CAVITE; Looc, Occidental Mindoro
  • Intensity I - General Trias, Cavite

The agency also reported that no damages are expected but aftershocks may occur. -- BAP, GMA Integrated News
