The Easterlies — or the winds coming from the Pacific Ocean — will bring warm weather and rain showers across the country, weather service PAGASA said in a Monday afternoon forecast.

“Nandyan ang epekto ng Easterlies o ng hangin galing sa Pacific Ocean na nagdadala ng mainit na panahon at mahihinang pag-ulan sa ilang parte ng ating bansa, lalo na eastern section,” said PAGASA Weather Specialist Benison Estareja.

(The easterlies will bring warm weather with scattered rain showers across the country, specifically the eastern section.)

Estreja added that the trough of a low-pressure area and the high-pressure area ridge were no longer affecting the country.

Furthermore, the low-pressure area (LPA) spotted outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) had dissipated.

There were no other weather systems or disturbances for PAGASA to monitor during the week.

In its 24-hour forecast, PAGASA said cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms would prevail over Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Samar, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Davao Oriental, and Davao Occidental due to the easterlies.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the combined effects of the Easterlies and localized thunderstorms.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate waters were expected over the country’s seaboards.

Temperatures in Metro Manila reached a high of 36.9°C at 3 p.m.

The sun will rise on Tuesday at 6:11 a.m. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
