Is slime solid or liquid? Kuya Kim answers
Slime is a popular toy for children manufactured by Mattel, the same company behind Barbie.
Made from a mix of guar gum, borax, and water, slime has a sticky and stretchy texture that kids enjoy touching.
Slide can be held like solids but also flows and adjusts to the shape of its container like liquids. So is it a solid or liquid?
According to Kuya Kim, slime is a non-Newtonian fluid. Newtonian fluids, such as water, have a constant viscosity or resistance to flow.
The viscosity of slime, however, depends on the force or stress applied to it.
Other examples of non-Newtonian fluids are toothpaste and ketchup.
Slime can be really sticky and get stuck on children's hair, but it can be removed using a mix of one part water and one part vinegar. —MGP, GMA Integrated News
