A university in Spain has developed bird nests and boxes powered by artificial intelligence or AI.

According to Martin Javier's report on "Game Changer" on "24 Oras," Monday, the nests are able to easily identify bird species, kind of bird, fauna count, and detection if these are invasive.

The smart nest prototype has a built-in sensor and is deployed in various locations. The sensors receive data, reports, and alerts in real time. The team then monitors these for data collection.

These have been tried and tested in Huelva, Spain to identify lesser kestrels, a kind of bird species. In another biological reserve in Huelva, they focus on bat identification. —Nika Roque/MGP, GMA Integrated News
