BAGUIO CITY, Philippines - The Baguio City Dental Society (BCDS) will launch its own Web site for peoples' protection against unlicensed dental procedures. The dentists group aims to give protection for the people against unlicensed dental operations by creating a Web site that would give information to the public regarding dental issues. In a forum held by the BCDS at Lions Club House last Thursday, BCDS officers said this is the biggest project they will be launching. Dr. Raymundo Opiniano, who is in charge of the project, said the Web site will primarily focus on peoples' assistance, giving them the lists of legally practicing dentists in Baguio City, their backgrounds and specialties so that possible patients will not be attending to false one. BCDS incoming president Silvestre Samson said patients are going to some "much cheaper" dentists but they are not sure if these clinics were issued license, which would just give them uncertain results and may cause much worse dental problem. Dr. Val Vicente, president-elect for 2010, said there are some dental clinics operating without permits, adding that they are doing their best to address this concern. Another reason for the Web site is to let the public know the latest trends and current events about dentistry. There will be also the "blog" site, to give chance to the public to ask questions and share information about dentistry. Opiniano said the Web site will also serve as a job site for dentists not only in the country but for those in the same profession around the globe who are eyeing for international career opportunities. The Web site will be launched on June 7 at the Baguio Country Club during the induction of the new BCDS officers and will be accessible to the public next month. - Sun.Star
