Lightning flashes out of ash clouds over Taal Volcano

The Taal Volcano in Batangas was a terrifying but majestic sight on Sunday after lightning bolts struck out of the ash clouds spewing from the crater.

In photos taken by Domcar Calinawan Lagto, the thick ash clouds coming from the Taal Volcano due to its phreatic eruption seemed to be on fire after they were struck by lightning.

Alert Level 4 was raised over the volcano on Sunday night, signifying that a hazardous eruption was imminent.

Several areas across the country have also been experiencing an ashfall since the eruption. — Julia Mari Ornedo/DVM, GMA News
