Magnitude 6.2 earthquake hits Davao Occidental
A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck off the coast of the municipality of Sarangani in Davao Occidental on Saturday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.
The quake, previously reported by PHIVOLCS as magnitude 6.0, was recorded at 8:43 a.m.
The epicenter was located at 02.40°N, 126.83°E - 368 km S 25° E of Sarangani.
The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of focus of 41 km.
PHIVOLCS said no damage is expected but aftershocks may occur.
The magnitude 6.2 earthquake was followed by a magnitude 5.4 quake at 8:51 a.m.

The second quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of focus of 97 km.
Its epicenter was located at 02.89°N, 126.51°E - 304 km S 23° E of Sarangani.
No damage is expected but aftershocks may occur after the second earthquake, PHIVOLCS said. —KG, GMA News
