How strong are flash floods? Kuya Kim explains
Ever wondered how strong are flash floods?
In Kuya Kim's report on "24 Oras," Friday, a flash flood that occurred in Zamboanga del Sur had enough force to push down the walls of a resort in Pagadian City.
However, a flash flood does not have to be super high to wreak havoc in communities.
According to the National Weather Service of America, even six inches of flooding can send a person tumbling and 12 inches of it is enough to sweep away a vehicle.
Despite the danger posed by running water, it is also a source of renewable energy.
The San Roque Dam in Pangasinan is the biggest hydroelectric dam in the Philippines. It has an installed capacity of 435 megawatts and can produce 1,000 gigawatt hours renewable peaking energy every year.
