6 volcanic quakes detected in Bulusan Volcano — PHIVOLCS

At least six volcanic earthquakes have been detected in the Bulusan Volcano in Sorsogon in the past 24 hours, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) on Wednesday.

The volcano had moderate emission of plumes going up to 100 meters tall and drifted to north, based on the PHIVOLCS’ latest bulletin.

Meanwhile, it also emitted at least 574 tonnes of sulfur dioxide as of July 11.

The PHIVOLCS said the volcano “edifice is inflated.”

The agency also advised that entry into the four kilometer radius permanent danger zone and entry without vigilance into the extended danger zone is prohibited.

It added that flying any aircraft close to the volcano is strictly not allowed as sudden steam-driven or phreatic eruptions may occur.—Richa Noriega/AOL, GMA News
