First meteor shower of the year starts on Thursday night

This year's first meteor shower is set to light up the sky on Thursday night, January 4, 2024.

According to a “24 Oras” report, if there are no clouds and the sky is clear, more than a hundred meteors per hour may be seen as the Quadrantid meteor shower peak this week.

It is expected that the meteor shower will be visible tomorrow at 6 p.m. and will last before sunrise on Friday.

Based on the data of the MetraWeather, there is a low chance of rain in a huge part of the country on Thursday.

However, there are still several provinces that may experience rain such as Apayao, Cagayan, Isabela, Quezon, and Mindoro Provinces.

Mindanao may also experience scattered rain showers in the morning.  Meanwhile, several parts of Northern Luzon may have cloudy skies until Friday.

Southern Luzon may also experience heavy rainfall.  There is a low chance of rain in Metro Manila.

On the other hand, Amihan and Easterlies will continue to affect the country. — Sherylin Untalan/BAP, GMA Integrated News
