STEM students compete at 2024 Robothon


Several schools from Mega Manila, Pampanga, Bulacan, and Batangas participated in the 9th Philippine Robothon Competition held at St. Paul College in Pasig City on February 3.

With the theme "F.U.T.U.R.E. (Filipinos in Unified Technologies, Unveiling Robotics Excellence)”, this year’s iteration aims to address critical issues affecting communities through innovative solutions while nurturing youth aspirations towards a robust and resilient education system.

''We always go back to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) because STEM is the fundamentals. Robotics is the tool,'' said Lim Soon Seong, president of organizer First Eduspec, Inc., in a report by Hazel Alviar of GMA Regional TV Balitang Southern Tagalog.

St. Paul College was named the best-performing school in the 2024 Robothon. It was followed by Brokenshire College Toril and Immaculate Conception Academy- Greenhills.

The champions for other categories are as follows:

Mini-Robot Challenge – Primary
SPCP Fighters 2 (St. Paul College Pasig)

LPMS Digiminds 1 (Las Pi?as Montessori School)

Mini-Robot Challenge – Junior
BCT Robo Aces JT2 (Brokenshire College)

Mini-Robot Challenge - Senior
Grace Robotics Team B (Grace Christian College)

Innovative Open Category - Middle
Project Title: A.I.R. W.A.V.E. Guard, Arduino Integrated Real-time Weather and Atmospheric Vigilance Explorer (De La Salle University –Integrated School)

Innovative Open Category – High School
Project Title: Extinguibot: FiRe, First Responder (Immaculate Conception Academy-Greenhills)

Innovative Open Category People’s Choice Award
IOC High School Category/ Project Title: Project AHMSS: Agricultural Monitoring, Harvesting and Sorting System (San Beda College-Alabang)

A total of 108 teams participated in the robothon competition: 82 in the mini-robot challenge and 26 in the innovative open category.

Teachers from 37 participating schools also joined the educators' conference.  — VBL, GMA Integrated News
