Magnitude 5.6 earthquake jolts Hernani, Eastern Samar 


A magnitude 5.6 earthquake hit the waters off Hernani, Eastern Samar on Friday evening, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.

The earthquake of tectonic origin was recorded 40 kilometers northeast of Hernani at 8:50 p.m. It has a depth of 10 kilometers. 

PHIVOLCS said that reported intensity III was felt in Palo, Leyte. 

While no damages are expected, state seismologists warned of possible aftershocks.—Vince Angelo Ferreras/LDF, GMA Integrated News
