Lenticular cloud spotted over Kanlaon Volcano

Residents of La Castellana in Negros Occidental were amazed at the unusual cloud floating above Kanlaon Volcano last Friday.

An orange-greyish cloud was seen above the volcano at twilight.

YouScooper Luckwartsera took this photo using her mobile phone at 6:02 p.m. last May 23 in Barangay Masulog.

According to PAGASA, it was a lenticular cloud, which usually forms atop mountains. Winds moving on the sides of mountains are forced upward, and when these reach a certain height, lenticular clouds are formed. —KG, GMA Integrated News
