Taal Volcano records minor phreatic eruption —PHIVOLCS

Taal Volcano’s main crater had a minor phreatic eruption on Thursday evening, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

State seismologists said the eruption occurred from 9:18 p.m. to 9:22 p.m.

It generated a 1500-meter white plume.

The eruption was captured by the thermal camera of the Buco Observation Station in Talisay, Batangas.

Taal’s latest eruption, also phreatic in nature, occurred on February 17, 2025.

The eruption lasted for four minutes, during which the volcano emitted 2,100-meter-tall plumes with two volcanic earthquakes lasting 91 minutes recorded.

PHIVOLCS said Taal Volcano remains at Alert Level 1, which means it is in an abnormal condition. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/LDF, GMA Integrated News
