Tsunami advisory cancelled cebu earthquake

The Philippine Institute for Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has cancelled the tsunami advisory it issued for a minor sea level disturbance, particularly in the coastal areas of Leyre, Cebu, and Biliran.

The tsunami advisory was issued after the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that hit Bogo City in Cebu on Tuesday night.

The cancellation of the advisory was issued at 1:20 a.m. on Wednesday.

"No further reports of unusual sea level changes were received after the two-hour extended observation period," PHIVOLCS said.

"With this, any effects due to minor sea level disturbances have largely passed, and, therefore, DOST-PHIVOLCS has now cancelled the recommendations issued for this event. This will be the final tsunami information issued for this event," it added. –NB, G
