Reported Intensity VI upgraded in Manay, Davao Oriental after magnitude 7.4 earthquake


An Intensity VI was reported in Manay, Davao Oriental following an offshore magnitude 7.4 earthquake on Friday morning, said PHIVOLCS. 

Reported intensity is based on what the people felt and the effects of the earthquake on infrastructure and on nature.

Phivolcs ground personnel and concerned citizens report and verify the intensity of an earthquake in an area.

The earthquake was caused by the movement of the Philippine Trench, the Phivolcs explained. 

The Davao Oriental earthquake has killed at least one person and prompted the Phivolcs to raise a tsunami alert over seven areas. Phivolcs earlier later lifted the tsunami warning at 1:43 p.m. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/LDF, GMA Integrated News
