Taal Volcano logs minor eruption
A minor phreatomagmatic eruption was reported in Taal Volcano on Friday.
In an advisory posted at 7:12 p.m. on Friday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) shared that a minor eruption had occurred at the main crater.
The eruption reportedly ceased around 7:15 p.m.
"This event generated a 900-meter plume that drifted southwest, as captured by the thermal camera of the Daang Kastila Observation Station (VTDK) on the northern rim of the Main Crater," Phivolcs said.
"A precursory signal preceded the event by almost six minutes as recorded by the Calauit Observation Station (VTCT) on the southeastern Volcano Island," it added.
Taal last had a minor phreatomagmatic eruption on Christmas Day, with four pulses lasting 2 minutes recorded over the main crater.
