DOST partners with CHED for PH testing, certification mechanism
The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is partnering with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and several universities to operate a nationwide testing and certification mechanism and facility to improve the readiness and marketability of new innovations.
DOST Secretary Renato Solidum Jr. said the Philippine Technology Evaluation and Standards Testing (PH-TEST) platform will examine Filipino technologies to either further improve them or show they are already for market.
“This will then enable potential investors and capitalists to evaluate if they want to invest (in certain Filipino technology),” Solidum said in an interview during the 2026 National Textile Convention at the Philippine International Convention Center.
He added that due to additional testing, investors can see which technologies are best for their investments.
Within the partnership, DOST will select capable universities to test specific products.
“Blind test to. Hindi malalaman nung nag-tetest kung sino dapat yung nag-produce ng technology and kung ano yung specific, kung ano yung detail, para nare-retain pa rin ng original technology producer, yung copyright,” Solidum explained.
(This will be a blind test where testers will not know the creator of the technology and its specific details to retain the originality and copyright.)
He also said DOST and CHED will launch the platform on March 11, inviting university presidents.
“We'll also look at shared sustainable development goal evaluation,” Solidum said.
DOST is also exploring the development of master trainers and further improving it to be on par with similar national facilities. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
