Pisay scholars bag awards at 15th ASEAN+3 science student camp

Several scholars from the DOST-Philippine Science High School (PSHS) System bagged awards at the 15th ASEAN+3 Gifted in Science Student Camp in Seoul, South Korea.

A total of nine students from PSHS-Central Visayas Campus (CVisC), PSHS-Northern Mindanao Campus (NMC), and PSHS-Central Luzon Campus (CLC) received the following awards: 

  • Grand Prize [Korea Ministry of Science and Technology]: Wenrey Ezekiel Padayhag Selim (Team RED Team 2);
  • Grand Prize [ASEAN]: Hjermione John Llanos Navarette (Team BLUE Team 1);
  • Gold Prize: Liam Casey Azucena Opulento (Team GREEN Team 4);
  • Silver Prize: Samantha Genelle Mutia Paran (Team INDIGO Team 1);
  • Bronze Prize: Ainslee Gabriel Dela Cruz Velasquez (Team YELLOW Team 2);
  • Outstanding Student Award: Bob Rowen Labagday Monzales, Hjermione John Llanos Navarette, Darren Andrei Alvarez Sungahid; and
  • Exemplary Pre-Camp Activities Award: Liam Casey Azucena Opulento

“Lubos kaming nalulugod sa ating mga iskolar ng Pisay na tumayo sa internasyonal na entablado ng 15th ASEAN+3 Gifted in Science Student Camp at nagbigay ng karangalan sa Pilipinas,” said DOST-PSHSS Executive Director Dr. Ronnalee Orteza.

(We are very proud of our Pisay scholars who stood on the international stage at the 15th ASEAN+3 Gifted in Science Student Camp and brought honor to the Philippines.)

Also part of the student delegation were Eianne Athena Cadiente of PSHS-Central Luzon Campus and Jefferson Niño Bayotlang of PSHS-Central Visayas Campus.

Held from January 6 to 9, the 15th ASEAN+3 Gifted in Science Student Camp aims to boost international scientific learning exchanges and cross-cultural understanding between nations, with a major focus on physics, chemistry, and biology. 

PSHS students and teachers also participated in the 17th ASEAN+3 Gifted in Science Teacher Workshop, particularly in discussions advancing gifted education in the region. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
