WATCH: Time-lapse footage of lava effusion at Mayon Volcano summit

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) released a time-lapse footage of lava effusion and minor Strombolian activity at the Mayon Volcano summit.

PHIVOLCS said the volcanic activity was recorded at 7:34 p.m. and 8:35 p.m. on February 17, 2026.

"Effusive eruption at Mayon Volcano continues for the 43rd consecutive day, generating incandescent lava flows and collapse-fed pyroclastic density currents (PDC) or “uson” and rockfall," PHIVOLCS said.

Alert Level 3 prevails over Mayon.

Entry into the six-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone remains prohibited, the agency said. —LDF, GMA Integrated News
