Taiwanese computer maker Asus remains unfazed by a trademark infringement suit lodged against it by US toymaker Hasbro over the former's "Transformer" tablet.
Asus spokesman Chang Wei-ming said Saturday the company will continue making its "Transformer" tablets after an internal assessment found no patent infringement.
Chang was quoted by Taiwan's Central News Agency as saying the company feels the lawsuit is unlikely to affect production.
Hasbro earlier asked a court to stop Asus from using the "Transformer" name in current and future products, and will seek monetary compensation for damages.
The infringement suit centered on Asus' use of the "Transformer" name for its tablet. Hasbro makes the "Transformer" line of shapeshifting toy robots.
CNA cited a report of the International Business Times that said Hasbro, claiming the Asus Transformer Prime label might cause confusion among consumers, is suing Asus for trademark infringement, unfair competition and trademark dilution. — TJD, GMA News
