Gmail, Google's email service, is on its way to catching up with Microsoft's Hotmail, with Google claiming it now has 350 million active users.
The figure, released at Google's earnings call Thursday, was an immense growth from the 260 million in its October report, tech site The Next Web reported.
Microsoft had announced in March 2010 that Hotmail had over 369 million active users, with The Next Web saying there is no update on the number of Hotmail users so far.
In its fourth quarter 2011 report, Google indicated it had exceeded $10 billion in revenue for the first time, showing continuous growth.
Google’s Larry Page has also announced that Google+ now has 90 million users globally, double the number from three months ago, The Next Web said.
Page added Google+ has a 60 percent "daily engagement" rate. — RSJ, GMA News
