Is there a problem with the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration's websites? As of Saturday morning, visitors to the sites continued to encounter several instances where the page would not load or would issue an error message.

While PAGASA insisted there was no problem with its sites, it posted Saturday morning a link to its older but faster-loading website. PAGASA has at least two websites: the main site at www.pagasa.dost.gov.ph; and the "mirror" site www.weather.gov.ph. The problems in accessing the main PAGASA site appeared to start earlier this week. On some occasions, the error messages indicated a "gateway timeout" while at other times, the messages said the connection was reset. But in a post on its Twitter account, PAGASA downplayed the problems in accessing the website as a "minor slowdown," and blamed heavy user traffic for it. "Our website is up and running. You may just experience minor slow down because of heavy traffic of users," it said. — LBG, GMA News
