Users of smartphones running Microsoft's Windows Phone OS may soon be able to get help in avoiding congested roads as the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority works on a version of its navigator app for them. MMDA traffic discipline unit head Yves Gonzalez on Sunday said they are developing a version of the "Navigator" app for Windows Phone devices. "May ginagawa tayo para sa Windows Phone 7 platform," he said in an interview on dzBB radio. But he admitted the MMDA may have difficulty developing a similar app for smartphones running Research In Motion's BlackBerry OS. He said there are relatively few developers who are likely to work on such apps for the BlackBerry platform. "Sa BlackBerry tinitingnan po namin kasi mahirap talaga ngayon, walang masyadong developer para sa BlackBerry," he said. Currently, the MMDA app has versions for Apple's iOS (iPad, iPod Touch and iPhone), and devices running Google's Android operating system. Gonzalez said owners of laptop and desktop computers can also access updates via the browser at www.mmda.gov.ph/navigator. "May information na lumalabas sa app, yan ang lalabas sa browser (Whatever the information that comes out of the app is the same thing that comes out in the browser)," he said. — LBG, GMA News
