Diablo 3 to be released April 17? Director hints at possibility

Gaming websites and social media went abuzz on the news that Diablo 3 might be released on April 17, 2012, as posted on mmorpgitalia.it, an Italian gaming website.

 

According to a separate article on Gamespy, Amazon.it posted Diablo 3 for pre-order and “mistakenly” put in a release date of April 17. The announcement was soon taken down.

 

The site also claimed that its representatives independently approached other stores such as MediaWorld and Gamestop, and received verbal confirmation of the said release date.

 

Jay Wilson, Game Director for Diablo 3, said that he “cannot debunk or confirm” the rumor via his Twitter account. But when a fan asked him to rate the rumor’s validity on a scale of one to ten (one being “absolutely false” and ten being “absolutely true”), Wilson tweeted back, “9”.  

 

Diablo 3 is the latest game in the immensely popular Diablo series. The previous game, Diablo 2, was released in June 2000. — TJD, GMA News
