Metal Gear's Hideo Kojima vows to make games 'until the day I die'
By Tim G. Villasor
Legendary Japanese video game programmer and Kojima Productions head Hideo Kojima has announced to the whole world his intention to make games until the day he dies. During an interview with Eurogamer, the famed creator of the Metal Gear series was asked if he’d be making games for the next 25 years, to which he responded:
Honestly, I really don’t know in 25 years from now if I’ll still be making Metal Gear, or even if Konami will still be around – I really can’t say. But I can say that if I’m not dead by that time I will still be making games in some form. I don’t have any intention of retiring – until the day I die I will be making games. Maybe by that time technology will be so advanced that I can make a game all by myself by using a bunch of robots. Who knows?
With the Metal Gear series celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, Kojima has undoubtedly become one of the leading names in the video game industry. Turning 50 years old this year, his work with Konami and the Metal Gear Solid series have garnered a strong and devoted following, and have sold millions of copies worldwide for multiple platforms and systems. With his attention focused on other projects at the moment (including the new Fox Engine Tech game), gamers can only pause and anticipate for the next big thing from Kojima. — TJD, GMA News
