Kinect + transparent OLED display = Minority Report interface
A transparent OLED display has been combined with Microsoft's Kinect motion-sensing device to make a 3D interactive desktop, reminiscent of the movie Minority Report:
The desktop, a project of Microsoft Research, allows a user to interact with things on their screen, while seeing their hands, tech site The Next Web reported.
"The tech world is all about touch right now: tablets, laptops, smartphones. But what if that is already being outshown by a new technology, one that isn’t touch-based, so much as it is interaction-based," The Next Web said.
It added that Samsung’s transparent OLED screen technology is a key component in what is essentially an "off-the-shelf" setup, aside from the custom software.
"Now, this being Microsoft, the contraption also uses a Kinect, and a bit of software. The result is a display that is see-through, interactive," it added.
It added this could be "quite practical," although the technology "doesn’t appear to be quite there yet." — TJD, GMA News
