Mountain Lion, the next version of Apple Inc.'s OS X operating system, is moving one step closer to public release after it was seeded to developers, an enthusiast site reported.
The "golden master" label shows Mountain Lion - Build 12A269 - is now in the final version stage, according to a report on MacRumors.com.
It said Mountain Lion, which Apple first previewed last February, contains many features already in iOS, Apple's platform for mobile devices.
These features include Messages, Reminders, Notes, Notification Center, and Game Center.
But at the Worldwide Developers' Conference, it noted Apple announced additional features, including Dictation, iCloud Tabs, and "Power Nap."
"Mountain Lion will be priced at $19.99 and released to the Mac App Store in July," it added.
A separate article on CNET also noted Mountain Lion will have a new security feature called Gatekeeper, which aims to keep malware out by controlling what apps can and cannot be installed. — TJD, GMA News
