Gaming firm Wargaming, MOL Global forge new tie-up

Online game developer and publisher Wargaming recently announced a partnership with MOL AccessPortal, an e-payment service provider and a wholly-owned subsidiary of MOL Global.

The partnership will allow Wargaming, whose flagship title is the popular MMO action World of Tanks, the opportunity to expand its product and service offerings to the players in the region.

By utilizing the MOLPoints payment system, Wargaming’s players can opt to pay and play their favorite Wargaming titles using their local currency payment options.

MOLPoints is a virtual currency used by over two million online consumers to acquire online credits and digital goods worldwide.

Both parties celebrated their new partnership with an exchange of document ceremony that was held concurrently with the launch of National ICT month 2012, WCG Asian Championship 2012, and Digital Lifestyle Expo 2012 on September 7 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

MOL Global’s group CEO Ganesh Kumar Bangah and Wargaming (SEA)’s chief strategic officer KC Tan were both on hand for the exchange.

The event was witnessed by YBhg Dato’ Dr. Sharifah Zarah Syed Ahmad, the deputy secretary general for policy at the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

“War games are genuinely unique in their approach and especially to the MMO genre. We believe by implementing the MOLPoints online payment system, Wargaming titles will garner greater awareness among the gaming community and achieve further growth by expanding into new markets,” said Ganesh.

“As for MOL, this is yet another milestone in our continuous effort to provide the best online gaming experience while fostering strong partnerships with reputable game publishers and developers, such as Wargaming, globally,” said Ganesh.

MOL has collaborations with over 150 game publishers worldwide, including big names like Electronic Arts and Zynga and offering the best online payment solutions possible to engage gamers and provide them with localised payment options.

With over 680,000 payment channels in more than 80 countries, MOL is rapidly growing and continues to expand into new and emerging markets such as Brazil and Turkey.

Wargaming, the Minsk-based company from Belarus, has over 35 million registered World of Tanks players, as well as hundreds of thousands of beta test pilots in their upcoming game World of Warplanes.

Wargaming has come a long way from its humble beginnings as a tiny group of strategy game enthusiasts to a global company with offices in several countries and over 1000 employees worldwide.

The company’s three titles — World of Tanks, World of Warplanes and World of Warships — will soon be unified under one gaming service and provide the ultimate gaming experience for war gamers around the world. — Newsbytes.ph
