Windows Phone 8, Microsoft's newest platform for smartphones, is hitting a sore note with users of some Nokia and HTC models running the operating system due to sudden reboots and freezes, a tech site reported Tuesday.

PC World cited complaints in several online forums indicating the problem seemed to disappear after some of them uninstalled an app for Facebook.

It said some users of the HTC 8X handset reported as many as eight "random reboots" a day after buying their phones.

PC World cited a forum member in Prague who said he experienced two random reboots after owning his HTC handset for only three days. "Quite annoying," it quoted him as saying.

But it also said a forum member said the problem affected not just WP8, adding at least one WP7 owner also suffered a "brutal" number of reboots.

PC World said similar reboots had been reported by owners of the Nokia 920 Windows Phone 8 device.

Worse for the Nokia owners, the 920 also appeared to suffer from random freezing, especially when using Bluetooth devices. — TJD, GMA News
