It’s been a stellar year for Street Fighter fans, and Capcom celebrated this by having dedicated gamers from around the world dish out some old school brawling in the “Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Global Tournament”. Beginning July of this year, a series of qualifying tournaments were held at different locations worldwide, culminating in a grand finals tournament that saw the champ crowned and honored – Infiltration! Capcom launched a new YouTube channel called “Capcom Fighters” for fans who missed the stream to catch replays on. Meanwhile, Capcom announced that a new patch will be released for their latest crossover brawler Street Fighter X Tekken. Dubbed “Version 2013”, this downloadable update will issue some balance changes and revisions that will adversely affect gameplay standards of the title. The DLC is free of charge and will be released on January 29 next year.  This December also saw another Capcom favorite commemorate its 25th Anniversary, as the Megaman franchise celebrates more than two decades fighting robot masters and saving the world from evil machinations. While it’s certainly hasn’t gotten the kind of reception it deserves (the cancellation of Megaman Legends 3 being a missed opportunity), the Blue Bomber still manages to soar with some re-releases of his classic adventures for the Nintendo 3DS. Megaman 1 to 6 will finally be available for the 3DS eshop for North American users. Each game will be released on an interval basis, with the first installment coming out on December 27. In an effort to highlight and combine both celebrations, Capcom also unveiled a special surprise in the form of “Street Fighter X Megaman”, a free downloadable game for the PC that commemorates the 25th anniversary of both franchises and has the Blue Bomber taking on the Street Fighters in his own style of side scrolling gameplay! It was released yesterday and is now available for download free at Capcom-Unity. — DVM, GMA News
