In deference to the victims of last week's shooting in Newtown in Connecticut, a gamer has called for a "Day of Ceasefire" among players of online shooting games on December 21.

GamerFitNation Inc. CEO Antwand Pearman said the ceasefire is not blaming video games for the violence but a statement that gamers will not sit back and ignore the lives lost.

"We are simply making a statement that we as Gamers are not going to sit back and ignore the lives that were lost. Instead we will embrace the families with our love and support," he said in a Facebook post.

A man gunned down at least 26 people, 20 of them schoolchildren, before killing himself at the Sandy Hook Elementary School last Dec. 14.

Pearman said the ceasefire starts Thursday midnight and end Friday midnight.

Also, he suggested gamers who are online at the time change their comment window to “OSCeaseFire.”

"If you are on a social network used the hashtag #OSCeaseFire. If you see people participating on the Dec 21st, post pictures on this page," he said.

"We ask for Gamers to show their support for the families of those who lost there lives in the tragedy that took place in Connecticut's Sandy Hook elementary school Friday, December 14, 2012," he added.

A separate report on PC Magazine said Pearman is "asking for a demonstration of peace — the one thing that money can't buy." — TJD, GMA News
