Fans of Blizzard’s Starcraft franchise are in for a treat, as the American video game company has released the opening sequence to their highly anticipated expansion pack for Starcraft II, Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm. Set two years after the events of Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty, the game will center on Sarah Kerrigan, who was saved by Jim Raynor and returned to her human form. The opening foreshadows Kerrigan's internal conflict, as her rehabilitation and recovered humanity are undermined when she tries to reclaim leadership of the Swarm and the splintered Zerg empire. Due in stores this March 12, Starcraft: Heart of the Swarm is the second installment of a planned trilogy for the series. As a sequel to the popular 1998 game Starcraft and its expansion, Starcraft II was originally released on July 2010 to critical acclaim, focusing on the Terrans and the deinfestation of Kerrigan. Heart of the Swarm follows up on these events two years later, and will feature a new campaign story focusing on the Zerg race. Blizzard plans to incorporate 20 new missions into the expansion, and will have 7 new multiplayer units for the game. As a trade off, 3 units will be removed and properties will be changed for other existing units and structures. Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm will see release for both Microsft Windows and Mac OS X platforms, and given that it is an expansion, players must own a copy of the main Starcraft II game in order to play it.
