Lego builder makes Metal Gear Rex tank robot
In what could be an ultimate tribute to Metal Gear Rex of "Metal Gear Solid," a Lego builder has made one —no, make that two— models of the nuclear-armed bipedal tank.
Lego builder Rags naRock said the second version - REX V.2 - cost $900 (P36,522) to build, and had a new hip design, neck, and mounting points for the rail-gun and sensor dome.
"It's been a few months since I unveiled REX, and since then I've tinkered with a lot of details and done complicated rebuilds to try and make the hips better. I tried to keep the overall look the same; though not perfect, I think the original still looks pretty accurate overall," Rags naRock said.
Rags naRock also clarified REX is not for sale, and credited one Erik Rief for making a parts list to recreate REX in Lego Digital Designer.
He also hinted at making a third version in the future, such as replicating the REX in the video game, where the lower section of its legs can extend/contract/act like shock absorbers.
"I was going to try and add this, but decided against it since it could compromise REX's ability to stand. It's possible I'll attempt to add this feature later but honestly I'm a little sick of fiddling with REX for now," Rags naRock said.
A separate article on Kotaku.com said the model is enormous, and moves as well. — TJD, GMA News
