As the nation joins the world in marking National Women's Day, the Supreme Court's website sported a pink-and-purple theme to mark National Women's Month. Supreme Court spokesman Theodore Te indicated on Twitter, "The SC webpage turns pink and purple in celebration of National Women's Month."

International Women's Day falls on March 8, when events are held worldwide to "inspire women and celebrate achievements," the International Women's Day website said. Several global corporations have also started to more actively support IWD with their own internal events and support for external ones, it added. On the other hand, the Philippine Commission on Women noted Proclamation No. 224 in 1988 declares the first week of March as Women’s Week and March 8 as Women’s Rights and International Peace Day. Proclamation 227 in 1988 also provides for the observance of the Month of March as Women’s Role in History Month. For this year, the Women’s Month Celebration theme is “Kababaihan: Gabay sa Pagtahak sa Tuwid na Daan." "The theme underscores women’s leadership role and participation in governance to enhance gender perspective in upholding good governance. It highlights the importance of strengthening the mechanisms and institutions that support women and to widen the arena for their participation," it said. — LBG/TJD, GMA News
